Pond of the Honorable Order of the Blue Goose, International
We are a
fraternal organization of men and women who work in the property
and casualty insurance industry, and related businesses.
Blue Goose currently has 6,000
members throughout the United States, Canada and Australia.
Currently there are 130 active and life-time members of the Nova Scotia Pond. The precepts of our Order are the promotions
of Charity, Good Fellowship and Acts of Benevolence among our
members.
The
Nova Scotia Pond, chartered in 1955, has its own unique blend of members
and of activities. Our charity of record is the Special Olympics Society
of Nova Scotia. Each year, through golf tournaments and
other functions that we host, we raise much needed funds as
assistance for their programs. It is estimated that we
have provided in excess of $35,000 to their cause. Other
charities benefit from time to time as well.
Our Pond meets on every second
Tuesday of the month, at a designated location, for a monthly
gathering and dinner. We also provide many social events to
our membership including golf outings, an annual lobster bash
and steak barbeque, a curling bonspiel, hockey and pool tournaments, and a
special Christmas celebration.
